The Haworthe Academy of Valor and Strength, commonly shortened to the Haworthe Academy, is a prestigious academy and facility purposed to train Peacekeeper recruits and coach district children for the Hunger Games.
Commissioned in 16 A.D.D., by Sterling Haworthe, the victor of the 15th Hunger Games, the Haworthe Academy stands as a symbol of District 2’s bravery and a show of Haworthe’s pride she brung for District 2 during her Hunger Games, having being the second ever victor District 2 had produced.
History[]
After Haworthe’s victory tour for the 15th Hunger Games, the latter had stated she desired to build a reminder of her victory in the Hunger Games as well as a beacon of District 2’s traits. With Haworthe having been authorized use of a plot of land in the heart of her district, the Haworthe Academy began construction about a week after her victory tour across Panem.
After construction on the academy completed, the mayor of District 2 had decreed a mandatory donation of at least 25% of handcrafted weapons and munition armour, often from Peacekeeper suppliers and vendors for the Haworthe Academy to use as training instruments.
The System[]
At the Haworth Academy, loyalty to the Capitol and honor to District 2 are often emphasized. The importance of family and friends is often disregarded. By law, district children are required to attend the school at least once a week, highlighting the importance of brawn over brains throughout the district. Here, children are told their purpose is to bring pride to District 2 through the Hunger Games and a refusal to attend the academy or participate in mandatory activities is often seen as cowardly and humiliating by fellow peers and educators.
Campus[]
The campus of the academy is divided into Peacekeepers and Careers. One side being a barracks for new Peacekeeper arrivals and another as a training facility for children. Despite the division, both sides serve the same purpose that is training. Each sides has their own training facility, however the Career side is much larger than that of the Peacekeeper counterpart.
