The 10th Annual Hunger Games were the first ever Hunger Games to introduce mentors, recruiting twenty-four of the Capitol Academy's best and brightest seniors. Due to a rebel bombing, the day prior to the initiation of the 10th Hunger Games, tributes were forced to enter and fight inside a destroyed, rubble-filled Capitol Arena, much similar to the 2nd Hunger Games.
In the end, Lucy Gray Bairs of District 12 came victorious. However, due to her rebellious nature and the significantly negative impact she had on the Capitol and the Hunger Games, all records of this year's victor were erased from history and the memory of all Panem generations to come.

The 10th Hunger Games[]
Day 1[]
The fourteen remaining tributes are placed in the center of the arena in a circle surrounding a pile of multiple weapons. No food or water supplies are included in the pile. Marcus (D2M), who had attempted an escape and disappeared during the rebel bombings of the Arena, had been captured and strung up by steel poles in the air at the main entrance to the Arena and left to hang from his manacles, still alive and badly beaten.
At the sound of the gong, more than half of the tributes run for holes that drilled into the ground, which had been caused by the bombings the day prior. The stronger tributes; Coral (D4F), Tanner (D10M), Jessup (D12M), and Reaper (D11M) run towards the pile of weapons, however all except Reaper quickly run away once they get what they need. Reaper is the only tribute to stay out in the open, armed with a pitchfork and a shortsword. After observing none of the other tributes are staying to fight, Reaper climbs into nearby stands to begin his hunt for the other tributes.
Later in the day, Lamina (D7F) emerges from one of the holes nimbly and makes her way over to the weapon pile, taking a knife and a small hatchet. She then goes over to the beam, where Marcus still hangs from and begins to climb up the poles supporting the concrete structure. Once she reaches the top and balances herself on the beam, she speaks to Marcus, apologizing, before driving her axe into his neck three times, killing him. As reward for showing strength, Lamina is gifted a bottle of water by her mentor.
As the afternoon progresses, a few tributes are spotted leaving their hiding places momentarily before disappearing again. Reaper remains at the stands and Lamina on top of the beam structure. Bored, she hacks away at the restraints still holding Marcus suspended in the air, sending his body falling to the ground. Lamina then receives another sponsor, this time being a slice of bread. Lamina then drops the two fragile, useless drones from her sponsors to the ground where Marcus lays, shattering them on impact.
Circ and Teslee (D3) eventually appear out of the barricade and move over to Marcus’s body where the broken drones lay. The pair begin to examine the pieces of the drones, fiddling with the wires and causing the lights to blink. Circ and Teslee then vanish back into the barricade with the drones, but not before catching a few more drones holding bread and water sponsors.
Reaper appears from one of the tunnels, having found and carrying his weak, tuberculosis-contracted district partner, Dill, in his arms. Dill starts coughing up blood once Reaper places her down. Reaper goes back into the barricade to hunt for tributes again, leaving Dill by herself. She receives two water bottle sponsors but she is too frail to even acknowledge them.
Treech (D7M) reveals himself from one of the holes, takes the bottles of water, and quickly retreats back into the hole again. Dill cries, as there is nothing she can do to stop the thief who stole her only supply of replenishment from her moments ago. As evening approaches, Dill begins to convulse and violently spray blood from her mouth, before dying of her tuberculosis systems.
Day 1 Deaths[]
-Marcus (D2M) | Killed by Lamina (D7F)
-Dill (D11F) | Death by tuberculosis
12 tributes remain.
Night 1[]
Later that night, Capitol citizen and mentor to Marcus, Sejanus Plinth, sneaks into the arena to sit by and cover Marcus’s body in bread crumbs, a District 2 custom to wish the dead good passing into the afterlife. Lamina watches him from above but doesn't do anything to stop him. Coriolanus Snow was sent in to retrieve Sejanus discretely without alerting the tributes by Dr. Volumnia Gaul, Head Gamemakers of the 10th Hunger Games.
Sejanus and Coriolanus attempt to take Marcus’s body back with them but are forced to leave it as Bobbin (D8M), Coral, Mizzen (D4M), and Tanner, now a centralized alliance, appear and pursue them to the exit of the arena. Coriolanus whacks Bobbin in the head with a plank of wood, killing him whilst Coral, Mizzen, and Tanner continue to chase them. Coriolanus and Sejanus manage to escape the arena, closing the arena gates at the last second before the trio gets to them.
Night 1 Deaths[]
-Bobbin (D8M) | Killed by Coriolanus
11 tributes remain.
Day 2[]
No events during the morning occur. In the afternoon of the second day, Sol (D5F) climbs onto the stands at the furthest end of the Arena. Coral, Mizzen, Tanner, spot her and eagerly chase her down. Coral slashes Sol's back, causing her to slip, fall, and wince in pain. But before she has time to get up, her throat is penetrated with one of Coral's trident's prongs, and she dies.
Lucy Gray (D12F) appears out from one of the holes in the arena by a now rabid Jessup, who had contracted rabies from being bitten by an infected rat during his time in the monkey enclosure in the Capitol Zoo. Jessup corners Lucy Gray up the remains of a concession stand. Due to his rabies, Jessup had developed hydrophobia as well.
To that end, Jessup was sponsored numerous bottles of water by Jessup's mentor in an attempt to end his suffering and prevent him from further chasing Lucy Gray. The drone and water bottles smash into Jessup's face, scaring him and causing Jessup to enter a frenzy as he falls from the sloped rubble. The sound of his bones breaking are disturbingly audible as he hits the ground.
Lucy Gray comforts Jessup as he lay dying, assuring him that "he could sleep now". She then takes some of the remaining bottles of water to hydrate herself and then uses the remainder of the water to clean Jessup's face. She closes his eyes with a handkerchief given to her before the Games by her mentor. She then receives a sponsor gift of bread and cheese, collects them, and exits into a nearby hole when she spots Reaper approaching. Reaper lets Lucy Gray run into the tunnels with a scowl look on his face as he takes what water bottles remained and returns to the stands to keep guard.
Day 2 Deaths[]
-Sol (D5F) | Killed by Coral (D4F)
-Jessup (D12M) | Plummeted to death
9 tributes remain.
Day 3[]
As the day begins anew, Reaper approaches Lamina, climbing up the beam. They negotiate a temporary alliance and he insists Lamina she climbs down from the beam. Reaper hands Lamina pieces of a Panem banner he torn down to protect her from the sun's exposure; in exchange, Lamina gives him a piece of bread and a chunk of cheese. Reaper's disrespect of the Panem flag angers the Capitol audience. But there is no time for complaints.
Suddenly, Mizzen, Coral, and Tanner appear from the barricade. Lamina warns Reaper of them and he retreats to the barricade while Lamina climbs up her beam again, waiting for the trio's attack. When the alliance reaches directly under Lamina's beam, Tanner smacks his sword on one of the concrete poles. The trio hatches a plan; Mizzen and Coral would coordinate climbing up the two poles while Tanner stays at the bottom of the beam with their weapons, trapping Lamina from attempting to escape.
Lamina stands her ground and looks down at an ambitious Coral, who is making her way up the beam, in which Lamina swings her axe at her. Coral dodges it by ducking her dead and Lamina turns to face Mizzen, who is on the beam but is too distracted to catch the trident Tanner threw at him for him to catch.
This gives Lamina the opportunity to use the flat side of her axe to injure his knee, causing him to slip and fall. However, Mizzen manages to catch himself, leaving him hanging off the beam. One holding onto the beam for dear life, and the other with his knife in hand.
When Coral reaches the top, she yells out a loud war cry, alerting Lamina right back to her confrontation. She manages to block all of Coral's thrusts and make quick counterattacks of her axe that causes slash marks to Coral’s chest.
But Coral still fights with strong persistence. She outmaneuvers Lamina’s swings by colliding her trident prongs with the axe forcefully, causing it to slip out of Lamina’s grasp. In what seems like milliseconds, it gives the opportunity to thrust her trident into Lamina's abdomen. Lamina screams, horrifically. She cries and spits and hollers but she cannot get up from her pinned position to the beam.
Her eyes beg Coral for mercy but she ignores the signs. Coral tips her over the beam and uses her leg to push Lamina’s body off of her trident, and off the beam.
Coral immediately helps Mizzen with his bloody knee while Tanner, arrogantly, does a sort of victory dance over Lamina's corpse. Annoyed by Tanner’s behavior, Coral stabs her trident into Tanner's back. He lets out an agonizing cry for help from Mizzen, who only finishes him off with a knife to Tanner’s neck. After the District 4 duo leave for a hole to hunt down more tributes, Treech emerges to take his district partner's axe and receive food from sponsors.
In the late afternoon, Reaper awakes from his sleep and surveys the damage, unable to comprehend the scene, and particularly Lamina. He begins to softly weep over his acquaintance and somewhat friend and decides to carry Lamina's body to where Bobbin and Marcus's bodies lay. He does the same with the remaining dead tributes over the next hour.
To agitate the citizens of the Capitol and overall, The Hunger Games, he tears down another Panem banner to cover the dead tributes as well to make a cape for himself.
Suddenly, he sees a surveillance camera hovering over one of the entrances to the arena. He walks over to it and does nothing but give a rebellious smile, further infuriating the Capitol through outstanding behavior. He then returns to the stands where he rests for the evening and the night.
Day 3 Deaths[]
-Lamina (D7F) | Killed by Coral (D4F)
-Tanner (D10M) | Killed by Mizzen (D4M)
7 tributes remain.
Day 4[]
As sunlight begins to spill into the arena through cracks, holes, and windows, signaling the early morning, Wovey (D8F), who was almost forgotten by everyone but herself, emerges from one of the holes, much to her mentor's delight. Her appearance is almost skeletal. Even through her clothes, he ribs and veins are visibly seen. She then collapses in joy in front of a water bottle, the one thing she had been lacking for days and surprisingly still alive.
Unbeknownst to her, Lucy Gray had tampered the bottle of water a day prior with rat poison she received by her mentor. Wovey greedily takes the water and chugs a quarter of it down, until she suddenly ceases motion. A silvery liquid trickles down her mouth before she collapses to the arena floor.
Near noon, Reaper appears and cautiously approached Wovey. He examines her face, suspecting her death was unnatural. He abandons the water, suspecting it to be the cause of her death, but takes her corpse and placed it with the other bodies in his makeshift “morgue”. Reaper observes the bodies he put together, drops to his knees, and weeps for the tributes. Tears drop on almost every tributes’ body as Reaper takes off his hat and mourns their brutal deaths.
In the evening day, Circ and Teslee are in the arena's center pile of rubble, attempting to salvage more pieces of drone equipment for whatever reason. Treech plans to silently approvals attack the District 3 duo, but they flee for the barricade as soon as they spot Treech, axe in hand.
But before anybody can run, a large drone carrying snake muttations enters the arena and drops a cylinder-like tank filled with thousands of the vicious creatures. Every single tribute present questions the gesture and the containments inside the cylinder when suddenly, the tank breaks and the snakes shoot out like bullets. Treech panics and immediately climbs up the bleachers, while the District 3 duo stared in a moment of confusion. When they finally notice the immediate danger, it is already too late for Circ.
The snakes hurdle over and bite all over his body for several seconds, before leaving pink, yellow, and blue streaks all over his body, leaving him to die. Teslee manages to climb on top of Lamina’s former beam, crying for Circ’s death.
Not long after, Coral shrieks at the sight and runs towards the stands for safety, Mizzen ahead of her. A snake dangles on her arm. Despite tearing it off her body, it’s bite leaves her paralyzed to the ground. Numerous snakes follow along after, completely covering her body, head-to-toe, in slithering multi-colored scales, leading to her blissfully short death.
Mizzen flings his knife at the snake horde and climbs desperately up the beam, however on the opposite side of Teslee. Teslee questions Mizzen if he will kill her, but Mizzen only shakes his head no in shock. They both watch in horror as the snakes engulf the arena in a rainbow, venomous flood.
Suddenly, the snakes turn to target Teslee, scaling up the pole to get to the beam. Teslee starts to have a panic attack from the immense fear and begins crying, while Mizzen attempts to calm her down. Right as the snakes approach Teslee’s leg, Lucy Gray emerged from the tunnels, attempting to intervene, softly singing. The snake mutts, recognizing her scent due to Lucy Gray’s mentor having placed a hankerchief in the cylinder tank with her scent, flock to her. This gives Teslee the chance to climb to the bleachers with the other tributes and calm herself down.
Lucy Gray sits down, letting the snakes surround her. Her rainbow dress merges with the snakes she serenades, almost as if they are extensions of her beautiful, elaborate piece of garment. She weaves a song in the most complex of notes and lyrics, keeping the snakes docile and busy. The other tributes are in tears and their skin dotted with goosebumps as they listen to her singing. Lucy Gray’s lyrics and melody are alive and full of emotional tears as even the Capitol that watches is captivated by her spirit.
A storm unexpectedly rolls in, creating a dazzling sunset and slowly killing the snakes mutts due to their inability to adapt to the cold and wet weather. She continues to hum the melody to her sentimental piece as they softly sound to sleep forever. She then gets up once all of them drop dead, takes a curtsy to a live surveillance camera, and leaves back into her hole for the night.
Day 4 Tributes[]
-Wovey (D8F) | Poisoned by Lucy Gray (D12F)
-Circ (D3M) | Killed by snake muttations
-Coral (D4F) | Killed by snake muttations
4 tributes remain.
Day 5[]
The sunrise of the fifth day comes with the last of the stormy clouds rolling out, leaving the arena wet and damp with puddles. Both Treech and Reaper receive food from sponsors, but as Treech eats his food hungrily, Reaper only drinks from a puddle despite this having being the first time he receives a sponsor gift since the start of the Games.
Teslee then emerges to the center of the arena, observing the remaining tributes. She carries a reconstructed drone she had reprogrammed with Circ the day before, smirking to everyone and signaling her plan. She then walks to and positions herself under Mizzen, flips a switch, and launches the drone, a cable tethered to her wrist.
Mizzen is confused at Teslee’s scheme at first. The drone moves normal for a while, until a low buzzing sound catches his ear. Every drone Teslee and Circ had collected swarm around Mizzen until one of the drone’s blades hit Mizzen's eye, causing him to shriek in pain as blood streamlines down his face. He attempts to escape the drones' torment and climhs down the beam he is on.
However, before he can, he accidentally puts pressure on his injured knee and loses his balance. This caused him to jerk and fall off the beam, snapping his neck on a rubble piece. Teslee flinched at the sound of his death.
Teslee begins to recollect the drones to swarm other tributes, gleeful that her plan had worked, when suddenly, Treech appears behind Teslee. She turns around, only to see Treech bringing his axe down on Teslee's skull, causing her immense pain and a collapse to the ground. She continues to holler in a deafening, bloody scream before Treech smashed her skull yet again, silencing her for good.
Treech grins at yet another death and one step closer to going home as he hunts for more tributes. Reaper climbs out of the bleachers to take the two bodies over to his morgue and uses a new piece of flag to cover them.
Lucy Gray emerges out of the tunnels just before noon and surveys the arena once more. She sees Reaper resting in the bleachers. Out of nowhere, Treech tackles her to the ground and she yelps in surprise. Just before Treech can swing his axe, Lucy Gray grasps at a snake muttation she had preserved from the rain and stuffed in her dress pocket.
Lucy Gray brings the snake to Treech’s neck, which bites him. Treech flings back and off of Lucy Gray as the snake crawls over to Treech, wraps its body around his neck, and slowly chokes him to death. Lucy Gray kneels over a dying Treech and softly hums the song she sang the day before in a short tune, taunting him before she stands up and stomps on his face, breaking his nose and delivering one last blow before his death. She then ushers the snake back into her pocket before she scurries along and the final two, Lucy Gray and Reaper await for one another to strike.
As the day grows longer, the hot afternoon sun dries up the many puddles in the arena. The Capitol yawns at the final two, too lazy to fight. Unbeknownst to them, Lucy Gray is already setting her plan into motion. Attempting to taunt Reaper, she drags Treech's body to the others, but Reaper shouts at her. However, Lucy Gray does nothing but snicker at Reaper and continues to drag his body, agitating him.
Reaper grabs his pitchfork and chases after Lucy Gray, who lets go of Treech and runs to the center of the arena. They both stop and eye one another before Lucy Gray kneels and lets her snake mutation out of her sleeve. Reaper recognizes the snake from earlier and climbs up the beam in fear. Lucy Gray smirks and simply watches as Reaper meets his inevitable death.
It’s only a matter of time before the snake catches up to him. The snake follows Reaper up the tall, suspended beam not along after. Drops of sweat trickle down his face like waterfalls but Reaper is persistent to the end. He wields his pitchfork and thrusts his pitchfork at the snake in defense but it’s clear it’s too agile for any of his attacks.
It fearlessly scales Reaper’s pitchfork as he drops it. It inches closer and closer towards him and Reaper leans over the ledge of the beam until time freezes. Reaper is bit, paralyzed, and falls off. But there is no shriek, there are no painful cries. The arena is silent and Lucy Gray watches as Reaper’s skull shatters on impact. She goes over and huddles to Reaper’s dead body, checks his pulse, and closes his eyes in pity.
She turns to a surveillance camera. Every citizen in Panem is watching her. She gives a bitter look to the camera and takes one final bow, showing her humble opinion on the outtake and horror of the Hunger Games before she stands at the exit of the arena, waiting for the Peacekeepers to escort her out.
In the several minutes after, Peacekeepers enter the arena, completely devoid of life and piled with concrete rocks and debris, except Lucy Gray. They order her into Peacekeeper trucks outside, where they transport her to the Capitol train station and into the eventual, open arms of District 12.
The victor of the 10th Annual Hunger Games is
Lucy Gray Baird of District 12
