"Or Griffin Naysmith, District 2, who had an arrow to the eye by the D1 Female during the Games. However, he ripped it out and stabbed the arrow in her neck, killing her and crowning him the victor that year."
-Jackson talking about Griffin in "An Ice Cold Killer - The 66th Hunger Games"
Griffin Naysmith is a District 2 victor, winning The 10th Hunger Games at the age of 17. He was nicknamed, "The Beast," after he won for how brutal he was during his Games.
10th Hunger Games
Griffin specialized in using an axe and a machete, killing a handful of tributes. Sometime during the Games, he had an arrow to the eye by the District 1 Female, however, instead of dying, he ripped out the arrow, still in his eye, and stabbed the girl with it until she died. This crowned him the victor that year and he was very famous because of this. He was later nicknamed, "The Beast," afterward for his brutal manner, as said before. Also, his odds of winning were 5-1.
During this time, he is mentioned by Magnus briefly on how he won his respective Games.
In one of the film places they used to shoot the first film, there were many pillars showing the names of each victor that won a Hunger Games. As expected, his name showed up on one of the pillars there, along with the other victors from his district.
Griffin would later die 40 years after he won his Games due to natural causes.
- The name Griffin in English means: a fierce or a dangerous person. This would make sense since he was a career after all from District 2.
