"'At least you two have manners,' says Effie as we're finishing the main course. 'The pair last year ate everything with their hands live a couple of savages. It completely upset my digestion.'
The pair last year were two kids from the Seam who'd never, not one day of their lives, had enough to eat. And when they did have food, table manners were surly the last thing on their minds."
-Katniss and Effie talking about the pair last year in The Hunger Games
The District 12 Male participated in The 73rd Hunger Games. However, there were no volunteers for him in this district at this time, as Katniss states in the first Hunger Games book in Suzanne Collin's trilogy of the Games, that there hasn't been a volunteer in her district for a long time. In the film adaptation of the book, there hasn't been any until Katniss volunteered for her sister, Primrose Everdeen.
73rd Games[]
During before the Games, Effie mentions to Katniss on how he ate like a savage when eating his meals before he was sent in the arena. This action disgusted Effie, as she is used to people with very formal manners, as she is from the Capitol. This angered Katniss, as she knew that he was from the Seam, also meaning that he never ate a decent meal in his entire life. This obviously means that she could have known him on a personal level, but he is never mentioned again in any of the books unfortunately.
During his time in the Games, it can be speculated that he didn't last very long, as he was malnourished, untrained, etc., as most tributes from 12 are. However, District 12's tributes have been in the finale of the Games, even though that is a rare occurrence. Notable occurrences of this happened in The 50th Hunger Games, The 74th Hunger Games, and The 75th Hunger Games.
Fans say that he placed 19th out of the 24 tributes that year, being killed by the victor, Wade Rankine, but it can't be totally confirmed until Suzanne says so. However, it is a somewhat reasonable place for him, since as mentioned previously, he wasn't in the best shape during the time of the Games.
